An Italian medical industry devices manufacturer

A leader manufacturer for the medical industry

Mirandola and its sorroundings have been home to the so-called “biomedical valley” since the late 70’s. In 1991, a group of technicians who gained experience and skills at various multinational companies based in this area and operating in the Biomedical sector, and particularly in the medical devices industry, gathered to found Bioservice. Right from the outset, the core objective was to design, manufacture and market products lines specifically aimed for hospital use.

Bioservice soon established themselves as a leading supplier of the large local multinationals in the biomedical sector, for both moulding of semi-finished products and extrusion of different types of medical tubing.

At the turn of the millennium, Bioservice evolved into a medical industry devices manufacturers of unique disposable medical devices, both own-designed and private-labelled, for use in urology, general surgery, anaesthesia, intensive care and respiratory care.

From its initial range of products, which involved only the manufacture of biopsy and disposable biopsy devices, intubation products and moulded articles for the companies and multinationals of the surrounding districts, it rapidly evolved with the manufacture of finished products under its own trademark, and relative certification for medical industry products was obtained towards the end of the 1990s.In the first years of the third millennium the development of new devices, together with a series of corporate takeovers, including that of a company producing medical appliances for orthopaedics and traumatology, led to the diversification of the products and services portfolio offered by the company.

The company’s strong growth (sales in 2000 of approximately 5 million euro have increased to about 14 million euro in 2007) was also the result of a series of corporate acquisitions. In fact, two companies of the Miradola Biomedical District have joined the group:

MEDAX s.r.l. and PLASTECH s.r.l. In the light of the above, the company has been reorganised with the creation of two divisions: Medical Devices and Industrial (all the PLASTECH products have been collocated in the latter).

  • MEDAX s.r.l. was founded in 2003. Right from the start, the company’s core business was the production of biopsy and disposable biopsy devices, prevalently intended for the radiology treatment sector.

  • PLASTECH s.r.l. was founded in 1990. Over the years it achieved the capacity to develop products on the customer’s specifications, particularly for companies operating in the haemodialysis sector, including infusion and transfusion kits.
